If you’re new to the Law of Attraction and want to understand what it actually is and how it works, this guide is for you. So many people know about the Law of Attraction, but many times when I ask someone to tell me what it is, they know part of the answer but not all of it. That’s totally normal. Let me break it down in a way that’s simple, practical, and something you can start using right away.

What Is the Law of Attraction?

Though people explain it differently, there really is only one definition: “like energy attracts like energy,” or simply put, “like attracts like.” But what does that actually mean?

In a basic way, it means that what you’re thinking about is what you’re going to manifest. Your thoughts create your feelings, your feelings create your vibration, and your vibration attracts matching experiences into your life.

For example, if someone is thinking about how much money they don’t have, they will keep attracting more experiences of not having enough money. If someone is focused on how lonely they feel, they’ll keep attracting more loneliness. The Law of Attraction doesn’t judge what you’re thinking about. It simply matches your vibration with corresponding experiences.

The good news is that once someone learns Law of Attraction ideas, processes, and techniques, they can start manifesting what they want instead of blocking it. That’s what makes this so exciting for beginners. You already have the power. You just need to learn how to direct it.

The Receiving Mode vs. The Resistant Mode

One of the most important concepts for Law of Attraction beginners to understand is the difference between the receiving mode and the resistant mode.

When you’re in the receiving mode, you feel positive, hopeful, and excited about what you want. You believe it can happen. You feel light and happy. This is when manifestation happens naturally.

When you’re in the resistant mode, you feel fear, worry, and doubt. You focus on what could go wrong, why it probably won’t work, and all the obstacles in your way. This blocks what you want from coming to you.

Most people spend the majority of their time in the resistant mode without even realizing it. The goal of every Law of Attraction practice is to help you spend more time in the receiving mode. It’s that simple.

A Simple Technique That Works

A wonderful technique that works, especially for beginners, is to use the phrase “Wouldn’t it be nice if…” For example: “Wouldn’t it be nice if I had an unlimited amount of money so I could buy what I wanted, help who I wanted, and donate to my favorite charities!”

By using that statement, you’re in a positive vibration about what you want, and your mind can’t argue with you. It’s soft enough that it bypasses your inner critic. Practice using that statement with anything you want to manifest.

“Wouldn’t it be nice if I attracted an amazing partner?”
“Wouldn’t it be nice if I got that new job?”
“Wouldn’t it be nice if I felt happier and more excited about life?”

This is just one of many manifestation techniques that actually work. But for beginners, it’s the perfect place to start because it’s easy and you feel the shift immediately.

How the Law of Attraction Affects Your Daily Life

The Law of Attraction isn’t something that works only when you’re consciously trying to manifest something. It’s operating 24/7, responding to whatever vibration you’re putting out. That means it affects every part of your daily life, from your mood to your relationships to the opportunities that come your way.

If you wake up dreading the day, that negative vibration attracts more experiences that match it. But if you wake up and set an intention to have a great day, you shift your vibration and attract more positive experiences. Understanding this daily aspect of the Law of Attraction is what separates beginners from people who truly make it work. It’s not just a technique you use once in a while. It’s a way of living.

Don’t Get Discouraged

It can be easy to think you’ve tried the Law of Attraction for a few weeks and it didn’t work. The thing is, it doesn’t work that way. The Law of Attraction is always responding to you 24/7. That’s why it’s so important to take the time to fully understand it so you can use it to your advantage.

1. Start using the “Wouldn’t it be nice if…” technique every day. Pick one thing you want to manifest and use this phrase to think about it.

2. Pay attention to your thoughts. Notice when you’re thinking about what you don’t want, and gently redirect to what you do want.
